Here is the best example of my documentary skills.

This is "Johnson County's Young Democrats." It was actually done as a class project for Advanced Video Production II at Johnson County Community College. The assignment was basically to do a documentary on an issue that affects campus life. Since I was already involved in local Democratic politics and the Kansas City Young Democrats, this subject seemed to be a natural fit.

Interviewees included Skye Coleman (who was President of KCYD at the time), Arrianna Jaben (who would later become President of KCYD), and Zach Luea (who was running for the Kansas State House at the time). I did, shortly after the class had ended, get a fourth interview with then-State Rep.-elect Emily Perry, but was unable to work it into the final film.

There is also footage shot by Rachel Garoutte who, along with reporter Shawn Gelushia, was doing a series of news packages on voting. Rachel was kind enough to share her footage with me to complete the documentary.

There is also footage from the March 2012 pledge edition of KCPT's Kansas City Week in Review, which took place during my internship at KCPT and I did camera work for (I was on "Nick Cam" - the camera that's trained on KCWIR host Nick Haines). The footage was used to illustrate the attitude Kansas City's political media have toward Kansas Democrats. What's most notable about this documentary is that Zach, just after he lost his bid for the Kansas State House, approached me about starting the Sunflower Brew podcast because of this documentary.
